Meet Esther and Harper

Picture
Husband and wife team Esther Mortimer and Harper MacKenzie created M2 Dressage as a place where horses and riders thrive with the support of a wonderful team of coaches, staff and clients, all aligned toward positive learning and excellence in horse training and care.

As accomplished FEI competitors Esther and Harper each have a unique, yet complementary style of teaching and training based around correct fundamentals and systematic progression up the dressage training scale.

Esther Mortimer
The daughter of renowned dressage rider Ralph Mortimer, Esther began riding before she could walk, and by the age of 9 was competing at the Prix St-Georges level. Though she was born in Canada, Esther grew up in Guatemala and has ridden for Guatemala at a number of international events. She competed at the 2003, 2011 and 2015 PanAm Games, as well as the Central American & Caribbean Games, where most recently she earned both team and individual bronze medals at the 2018 games in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Harper MacKenzie
Harper brings decades of experience in riding, training, competing and managing successful riding operations in BC and Ontario to his role at M2. His true passion, however, lies in teaching, and it shows in his ability to help  students understand the most technical aspects of dressage. His in-depth knowledge of classical training principles comes from years of training with the sport's very best, including Canadian Olympic bronze medallist Cindy Ishoy, the late Neil Ishoy, Canadian Olympic team coach Norbert Van Laak, and 4-time U.S. Olympic medalist Robert Dover.
